Obituary of Leonard Stanta

STANTA, Leonard "Leo" Born in Rijeka, Croatia on June 20, 1932. Passed away on March 23, 2011 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 78. Beloved husband of 56 years to Anica (nee Tus). Loving father of Angie and husband Tim, Nora and husband Harmen, Mary-Ann and husband Randy. Cherished grandfather of Erin, Evan, Jason, Leah, Brenton, Jacob, and Erik. Predeceased by sister Nevenka Galic and brother Maxo Stanta. Dear brother in-law to Joso Galic and uncle to Zeljko Galic. Also survived by many family and friends in Croatia. Leo was a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus member of Kardinal A. Stepinac Council #11774, the Croatian Soccer Club and St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Church. Leo was a retired electrician from Chrysler Canada with over 30 years of dedicated service and a member of CAW Local 444. He was also the owner of Stanta Electric. Leo loved hunting, fishing, numerous sports, especially hockey and the Toronto Maple Leafs. The family would like to send their special thanks to Dr. C. Pearce, Dr. F. S. E. on Friday, March 25, 2011 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Knights of Columbus prayers Friday at 4:30 p.m. and Parish prayers at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 9:15 a.m. from the Funeral Home then to St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church for Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario, the Canadian Diabetes Association or St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Church Building Fund.
