Obituary of Rita Holland

HOLLAND, Rita (nee Whitfield) Born May 23, 1925, entered into Eternal Life on Sunday February 13th at Iler Lodge, with her family at her side. Daughter to Catherine and John Whitfield. Devoted and caring wife of William Holland to whom she was married from 1945 - 2006. Loving Mother to Arlene Horner/Beneteau, and Bill Holland and wife Bev. Sweet "Nana" to Dr. Sara Bachman and husband Michael, Amy Tomaselli and husband Sean, Alison Horner and Matthew Holland. Great Grandma to Abby, Dean and Simone. Sister to the late Jack and Tom Whitfield. Aunt to Connie Neubauer, Marilyn Helmer and Jim Whitfield. Rita was a faith-filled woman and regular parishioner at Sacred Heart Church and then Immaculate Heart Parish for over 60 years. She spoke kindly of all and loved to laugh. Rita was an avid sports enthusiast, loyal fan of the Montreal Canadians, an ardent euchre, cribbage and poker player and lover of mystery novels. She greeted all with a warm smile and a quick wit. She will be greatly missed and always remembered. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Main Chapel) 253-7234 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel. Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
