Although we are away at this time our thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time. We have many fond memories of traveling with John and Nina and enjoying John's expertise of the southwestern states. He helped Rino and I plan some great family trips while always finding the BEST deal around. John also displayed such skill, knowledge and PATIENCE while painting our new home 20 years ago. He was a wonderful person and a great friend. Mary and Rino Licata

Our condolences to your family at this very sad time. We met John 20 years ago when, as young newlyweds, we were smart enough to know it would be cheaper to hire someone to hang our wallpaper than to hire a divorce lawyer. Throughout the years John painted and repainted our home and then followed us to our new home where he started all over again. Not only was John an excellent painter and a "John" of all trades, he was also a wonderful story teller. We learned a lot about his travels and family whom he always spoke so lovingly about. We will miss him as we keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Mark and Fedela Falkner

My family and I were so sorry to hear of John's passing. He was such a great guy and made Nina so happy. Growing up on Glenfield the entire Barnden family (9) kids all have stories of how John helped us survive-one bike at a time! My earliest memory of John and Grandpa Staddon was when I was about 5 years old. Turpentine was sold in recycled wine bottles and the hardware gave two cents a bottle-big money fiftyfive years ago! My older sister and I would scour the neighbourhood allies looking for thrown out bottles. We soon found out where the good pickings were and were constantly collecting our cash. Finally John told us he had enough bottles and we should let others kids bring some in. The money was to good to give up- my sister convinced me that John would never recognize me wearing a lampshade on my head that we found while bottle hunting. I still remember very clearly walking into the hardware ,lampshade on my head and collecting my two cents while John and Grandpa Staddon were turning red from laughing! John was a great guy truly respected and admired by everyone. I miss you Nina- and know you will have love and support from all your friends and family. Take care, Judy Pearson

I was very sad to see that John had passed. John had painted in my home many times and I can say that he was always a gentle, witty, engaging, story telling , dependable, Vegas loving, ball of energy, kind of gentleman. I'm sure that he will leave a huge gap in your lives, and my thoughts and prayers will be with you at this time.

Dear Nina, Jamie, Janet and Families, There isn't a wall or ceiling in our home that hasn't been touched by John. The times when he was papering or painting were special times for me. He would tell wonderful stories of his youth, his adventures and 'mis'adventures. He would talk about his family, his grandparents, his children, his grandchildren and of course, his Nina. He was always there for us, both emotionally and physically. Two years ago, when we were selling my Mother's house, water came into the basement. In bone-chilling weather, John climbed the snowy, ice-covered roof and removed debris from the evestroughs. There was no more water. He was a very good listener and always offered sound, practical advice. He was a confidante. There isn't a room in our home that doesn't have a memory of John, nor a place in our hearts that isn't filled with love and admiration for all that he was. We'll miss you, dear friend... Andy and Gayle
