Obituary of John Petri

PETRI, John (Johann) John passed away peacefully on Monday, August 9, 2010, at 85 years, at University Hospital in London, Ontario, surrounded by family love. Reunited with his beloved wife Anna, (nee Lusch) (2006). Son of the late Jakob Petri and the late Sabine Hoeckl. Beloved Father of Elfie Miehl (Tom), Johanna Petri-MacPherson (the late Wayne MacPherson) (2007). Loving Opa of Karyn Miehl (Kris Marentette), David Miehl, and David MacPherson, and to his great-grandchildren, Quinn and Calla. Dear half-brother of the late Maria Schulz, and the step-brother of the late Anna Hessheimer (Michael) and the late Joseph Hoeckl (Margaret). Brother-in-law of Josef Lusch (Rosina) and Lisi Pfanner (the late Johann). John will be sadly missed by all of his family, nieces, nephews and friends. John was born in Modosch, Jugoslavia, on November 10, 1924. John, Anna and their new born daughter Elfie immigrated to Canada in 1950. John was a retired Mechanic for Chrysler and a member of CAW, Local 444. He was an active parishioner of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church as a Lay Reader, Eucharistic Minister to the sick and Treasurer of the Men's Society. He was involved with the St. Vincent de Paul Society for many years. He was also a member of the German Teutonia Club. As a devoted and loving husband, father and Opa, John's unending love, kindness, compassion and generosity was a blessed and precious gift to us all. We will be forever grateful. Family and friends will be received at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (MAIN CHAPEL), 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E., N8W 1C7, on Thursday, August 12, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers Thursday at 8 p.m. Funeral service on Friday, August 13, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. from the Funeral Home, then to St. Michael's Roman Catholic German Church, (2153 Parkwood, Windsor, N8W 2J8) for Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery 5005 Howard Ave., Windsor, N9H 1Z5. Special thanks to the medical teams at Hotel Dieu-Grace Hospital in Windsor and University Hospital in London for the care and compassion given to not only our father but to our family.
