Obituary of Maria Slawomira Zehaluk

ZEHALUK, Maria Slawomira (nee Kanski) Born in Poland on April 15, 1918 and peacefully passed away April 6, 2010. Beloved wife of the late Kazimierz (1986). Dear daughter of the late Feliks (1965) and Antonina (1981). Dearly beloved Mama to Christina Zehaluk and husband Zygmunt Paleolog of Ottawa, Andrew Zehaluk of Toronto, and Anna Perta and husband Vince of Tecumseh. Proud and adoring Baba to Kristofer and Stephanie Perta. Caring sister to Halina Rudomino-Dusiacki of California, Ludek Kanski of England, and the late Zofia Klimowicz (2008) of Windsor. Ciocia Marysia will be loved and missed by her many nieces, nephews and extended family. Maria was a WWII Veteran in the Polish Army and lived in many parts of the world. She moved to Windsor in 1958 and was very active in the Polish Community and Holy Trinity Church. In the following years, Maria touched the lives of many youth in Windsor, teaching Polish for 28 years and leading the Polish Scouts. A passionate gardener, she also enjoyed reading literature and poetry from her homeland. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME 1700 Tecumseh Rd. East on Thursday, April 8, 2010 from 6 to 9 p.m. Prayers for Maria will be held on Thursday evening at 8 p.m. Funeral Services on Friday, April 9, 2010 from the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. to Holy Trinity Polish Church (1035 Ellis Street) for Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
