Obituary of Vilda Amelia Ray

RAY, Vilda Amelia (nee Chiandussi) Passed away peacefully in hospital on April 5, 2010 due to complications from diabetes. Reunited with her beloved late husband Albert (Sept. 21, 2009) with whom she shared a full life of hard work and travel. She is survived by devoted children Vivien Ray-Mailloux (Allen Mailloux), Gregory (Lauri) and Louis (Kathy) who loved and cherished her in good times and in sickness. Admired Nonna to Adam, Vanessa Mailloux (1991), Aksel, Nevin, Spencer, Connor and Olivia Ray. Vilda is survived by caring sisters Gina Muzslai (Edward) and Luciana Kim (Kyu). Also survived by Biasutti and Chiandussi family members. Vilda was very organized and intelligent, working as a bookkeeper for 30 years. She was an active member of the Fogolar Furlan Club since 1976 and was a tireless volunteer, serving on various committees. Most notably, she was the first woman on the Fogolar's Board of Directors and served as secretary for 10 years. She was also a member of the Caboto Italian Women's Club and the St. Angela Mother's Group. Being community minded, Vilda also canvassed for various charitable organizations. In her younger years, Vilda was active in the PTA and visited the elderly in nursing homes. She loved shopping with her daughter and she enjoyed sharing her recipes and love of cooking with all those who admired the wonderful dishes she created. Having an adventurous pioneer spirit, Vilda was fortunate to have visited all of Canada, 48 US states and over 50 countries, including China, Europe, Africa and South America. Being on the Fogolar's Bocce team, playing cards and playing bingo were her favourite pastimes, but what we will remember most was Vilda's joy in planning family celebrations and her devotion to each of us by creating "not a house but a home". She loved art and music and beautiful things. We will miss her blunt wit, her courage, her strength, and her undying spirit. Her faith in God and her belief in His grand plan for us all was inspirational. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service on Friday, April 9, 2010 at 10 a.m. in the Chapel.
