Obituary of Maria Tudorache

TUDORACHE, Maria ( nee Pocora ) " Grandma " It is with great sadness that we express the sudden but peaceful passing of our beloved Maria on February 24, 2010 at Huron Lodge, at the age of 87 . Reunited with her beloved husband Petre ( 2005 ) with whom she shared 60 years of marriage. Predeceased by her parents Ion & Ana Pocora and sister Aurelia Rutea of Romania. Proud & devoted mother of Dr.Mircea Tudorache & wife Epifania, Aureliu Tudorache & Sarah Lee and Dr. Carmen Siara & husband Dr. Ioan Siara. Dear mother-in-law of Dr. Aniceta Tudorache. Cherished Grandma of Dr. Monique Siara & husband Dr. John Selim; Dr. Nancy Tudorache; Dr. Nicole Siara-Olds & husband Dr. Steven Olds; Vincent Tudorache; Frances Boucher & husband Dr. Aaron Boucher; Christopher Tudorache and Laura Siara & fiance Andrew Adams. Beloved great grandmother of Evan and Liam , Pierce and Anson. Maria is survived by her brother- in- law Dumitru Niculae & wife Dr. Natalia Niculae of Toronto. Loving aunt to many nieces & nephews. Maria immigrated to Canada from Romania in 1969, where she had practiced her passion of teaching. Her determination , strong will and sense of humility helped her & her family establish Marentette Rest Home, where she was the proud owner from 1970 to 1985. Maria had a wonderful talent for hosting elaborate dinner parties that everyone always enjoyed. Her extremely generous nature, true selflessness and sense of compassion towards others touched so many lives on numerous levels. She always put her family first and taught us all so many valuable lessons about life. Her kind spirit and sense of humour will live on forever. A heartfelt thank you to Maria's long time caregiver Cornelia Mesesan , to the nursing staff at Huron Lodge and to all of her Doctors for the compassionate and professional care. VISITATION AT THE WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME 1700 Tecumseh Rd East on Friday from 2-5 & 7-9pm. Prayers Friday at 7:30pm. Relatives & friends are requested to meet the family at St. George's Romanian Orthodox Cathedral ( 1960 Tecumseh Rd E.) on Saturday February 27, 2010 from 9:00am until Maria's funeral service at 10:00am. Officiating the Rev. Fr. George Sandulescu and Rev. Fr. Simion Catau. Interment Windsor Memorial Gardens.
