Obituary of Mario Fabris

Born in S. Giovanni di Casarsa, Italy, January 17, 1933 to Luigi Fabris and Amalia Falcomer. Passed away on March 5, 2020 at the age of 87. Devoted husband of 63 years to Elda Gava. Dear father of Gary (Brenda), Sandra, and Paul (Lynette). Wonderful, proud, loving nonno to his adoring grandchildren; Paige (Keith), Harrison, Crystal and Christopher, and great-grandfather to Oliver. Loving uncle to nieces and nephews in Argentina, Canada, Italy and the U.S. Predeceased by his brother Aldo and sister Ines, sister-in-law Rosi Fabris and brothers-in-law Aldo Gava (late Mae) and Phil Gava (late Elsie). Mario started his leadership role as a teenager in organizing the Catholic Youth Society in his hometown; enrolled in the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and President of the first Parish Council and the first lay reader at St. Angela Merici Church. He was past Vice President of the Windsor Centre of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, and was honoured by both the American and Canadian Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He was a leader at Border Tool & Die and Plant Manager at Canadian Engineering Co. Mario is a 60 year member of Caboto Club and past President. He was devoted to his family loved nature. Very technically talented, he built his own home, created an astronomer’s gate, a sun dial and water falls from a hill that he built flowing under a bridge into the fish pond. He was a builder also of peace and goodwill. Thank you to his family and friends for their meal contributions and close friendships. A special thank you to the volunteers and staff at Windsor Hospice who cared for him. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E., 519-253-7234 on Friday March 6, 2020 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. Parish prayers at 4:30pm. Friends are invited to gather on Saturday March 7, 2020 at St. Angela Merici Church (980 Louise Ave.) for a Funeral Mass beginning at 9:30am. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
