Obituary of Clayton Donald Kenney

KENNEY, Clayton Donald Called home to glory, with family by his side, on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at the age of 80. Our beloved dad has been looking forward to being with his Lord for a long time, but he will be sadly missed by his wife, Ruth, his children, Jean, Paul, John and their partners Richard, Jeff, Evelyn, Julie, his cherished grandchildren, Brock, Chad, Brittney, Zachary and Ian. Clayt will be fondly remembered by his sister Joyce (Ken) Armstrong, nieces Paula and Stephanie and their families, his brother Ray (Gail) and their children Donald, Lori and Karen and their families and cousin Betty Ann Maddocks . Clayt was at home wherever he went, and is loved by many friends old and new, in Thessalon, Elliot Lake, Barrie, Orillia, Toronto, Florida, Unionville, Windsor and those he met on mission trips to Eastern Europe, Eastern Canada, and Israel. He shared many wonderful times with lifelong friends Murray Braithwaite and Bill Taylor, and loved exploring Northern Ontario with Betty Devinney. Clayt was a retired Chrysler employee and a member of the Gideons, nature lover, fisherman, photographer, incredible problem solver of all things mechanical; master of duct tape and silicone. Devoted father and friend, always generous and the first to help, he knew how important it is to savor each day. Never happier than when behind the wheel of a car, cap on head, coffee in hand, CD playing and CB radio on, off on new adventure, to share his faith, tell stories, make us laugh and meet new friends. Special thanks to Ken Armstrong and Bill Taylor for their friendship and help with final arrangements, the wonderful cancer care team at Princess Margaret Hospital and his extraordinary nurse, Sonya who tenderly doted over dad and all of us in his last month. A Homegoing Celebration for Clayt will be held at Oakwood Bible Chapel, 2514 Cabana Rd. W. Windsor,ON on Friday, February 12, 2010 from 12 noon until time of service at 1:30 p.m. Dad would appreciate donations to Gideon Memorial Bible Fund.
