Obituary of Norman Allen Roper

ROPER, Norman. December 26, 1928 - January 22, 2010. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grand-dad, great grand-dad and brother, surrounded by his loving family. Norman is reunited with his beloved wife, Helen (Nee Pickering), with whom he celebrated 56 years of marriage. Devoted and cherished father to Lynne and husband James Bogucki, Stephen and wife Valerie Roper. Precious grand-dad to Sheri and husband Brad Beaudoin, Justin, and Timothy; and great grand-dad to Samantha. Predeceased by parents George and Mary Roper and brother Jack and wife Mary. Dear brother to George and late wife Nancy Roper and sister Mary Parkinson and late husband Wesley. Dear son-in-law to Catherine Pickering and her late husband Thomas. Loved and adored uncle to many nieces and nephews. Norman was an active member of the Moramos Shrine Club, RCL Branch 255, Air Force Club, and he was a Mason and member of Garden Lodge No. 641. Norman was an avid dart player and was a soccer fan of Sunderland. He was a dedicated and retired millwright at Kelsey-Hayes. According to Norman's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will take place at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Sunday, January 24, 2010 from 2:30 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 3 p.m. in the Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the Alzheimer's Society of Windsor-Essex County. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Malden Park Continuing Care for the compassionate care provided to Norman and his family.
