The sad news of Jack’s passing arrived via social media a few days ago. A terrible surprise. I worked for the advertising agency with Jack inside the Chrysler head office building for a few years in the late 1990’s. It was there that I came to appreciate Jack’s many super-powers. He had quietly won the respect of our most senior client at the time, the late Yves Landry (CEO of Chrysler Canada). At every Chrysler event I attended it was inevitable that Yves would seek out Jack in the crowd to shake his hand and say a few kind words. That level of respect was reserved for a few select individuals. Yet there was no artifice with Jack. He also had an amazing command of the language. A language he clearly loved. When he put pen to paper, he captured the essence of a marketing strategy in the most economical, powerful and inspiring way. It was a master class in business writing. To me, it read like poetry. Perhaps his biggest super-power was his unwavering dedication to doing great work for his client. It produced so many great advertising campaigns. I fondly remember all of them. Each one is a small tribute to Jack. My deepest condolences to his family. He will be sadly missed by so many. Doug Pearn

So sorry to hear of Jack’s passing. My name is Jim Jenkinson and back in the 60’s and 70’s Jack and I were good friends. We spent a lot of time together through high school and Glendon College. I remember Jack as an excellent hockey player and academic talent. He was my best man at my first marriage also. As often happens we lost touch over the years and went our separate ways. It was no surprise to read of Jack’s business and life’s accomplishments. A few years ago we were in touch by email and had hoped to meet at an SMCS Turkey role or a coffee. Regrettably, this didn’t happen. I will remember Jack as a fine and generous man. I express my sincere condolences to his family.

To the Daley Family I have only recently learned of Jack's passing and extend deepest sympathies to all of you. Jack and I were very good friends at St Michaels College School long ago. We went separate ways after high school but reunited through internet and email a number of years ago. Disappointing that Jack at last minute had to cancel out of our 50th reunion a couple of years ago but through that process of organizing the reunion we shared many stories and memories. I have advised the school and a few of our friends and sent the obituary notice. You will have lots of memories - enjoy them forever. Sincerely, Bill McNeill

We were saddened to learn of Jack's death. We met Jack when he came to Windsor to handle the Chrysler advertising account and an immediate friendship formed -- not one that was really close but one that lasted and could always be trusted. And as we got to know him we learned of his eclectic background and impressive past achievements: publisher of an independent magazine, a Maclean's staffer, an early / medieval English scholar, a distinguished boy chorister. So many memories it is hard to find the right one. One that stands out was the gift that he gave John for one of his Birthdays. It was a duck which would quack when someone walked in front of it. Jack spend the night and unfortunately had placed the duck on the bar which had to be passed to go to the washroom. At 4AM when nature called Jack walked pass the duck which began to quack. Jack left out a blood curdling scream that scared not only him but everyone in the house. The next morning we all had a great laugh(at him and with him) and teased him all day! Will miss you Jack!
