I did not get to meet Betty until much later in her life, when her grandson Jay introduced me to her at the end of December. She was already in the hospital in a great deal of discomfort and very upset that she couldnt get up and fix her hair to look nice for me or cook up some of her famous Hungarian food. But even in those circumstances, her spunky, feisty and loving personality came through. Listening to the stories about her childhood, her wedding, and her husband, children and grandchildren, it became clear to me that, though she will be missed, her memory and influence will be kept alive by the family that she raised and loved so dearly. Though it was brief, I am especially grateful to have had the chance to know her and even more grateful that she was such a wonderful grandmother to Jay. My condolences to the Simon family.
