Obituary of Hector George Garneau
GARNEAU, Hector George (Born December 17, 1919) Passed away peacefully on January 6, 2010 at the age of 90, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness. Reunited with the love of his life, Gertrude Garneau (Nee Pich", 2003). Sadly missed and very lovingly remembered always by his children, Gisele Warren (Bernard Collins), Daniel (Suzanne), Richard (Janie), Mark (Sandy), Pete (Kelly), Marcel, and Jacqueline Jubenville (Rick), as well as by his daughter-in-law Bonnie. Beloved P"p" to his grandchildren: Donald and Lesley Warren (fianc" Eric); Christopher (Carla), Stephanie (fianc" Trevor) and Carolyn; Michelle Davidson (Ben), Andr" and Justin; Steven and Kevin; Nicole and Dave; Michael; and Nathalie, Chantal and M"lanie Jubenville. Survived by his brother Bernard (Muriel). Predeceased by his sisters Bernadette, Antoinette, and Mary Jane, and his brothers Raymond, Charles, and Lionel, as well as by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Also fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Hector lived his life with a great sense of joy, and thoroughly enjoyed his recent 90th birthday celebration. He particularly appreciated time spent with family, friends and neighbours. He will be missed by his fellow card players at Most Precious Blood, St. Theresa, and the Knights of Columbus, as well as by his many Ferndale Ave., Obatanga, and life-long friends. Hector was an avid gardener, and his vegetables have been shared and enjoyed by many over the years. He also loved to walk and to travel, pastimes he shared happily with Gert during their more than 50 years together. Hector was a proud WWII Veteran, where he attained the rank of Corporal in the RCAF, and where he put the skills he had learned as a watchmaker to good use as an instrument mechanic, helping keep the Wellingtons and Lancasters flying. He later used these same skills in his long career at Grayson"s Jewelers, where he worked for 35 years. Hector was a very proud "membre fondateur" of the Club Alouette, and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 578 and Paroisse St. J"rome. He was born and spent his entire life in Sandwich East. Thanks for the kind care given by the staff at Windsor Regional Hospital (Met and Malden Park Campuses) and the pastoral ministry of P"re Morand.
