Obituary of Julia Gibala-Farkas

GIBALA-FARKAS, Julia (nee Sumegh) Entered into eternal life, in the presence of her loving family, on December 12, 2009 at the age of 106 years. Julia emigrated from Hungary in 1927. Predeceased by her first husband Martin Gibala (1954) and Alexander Farkas (1957). Beloved mother of the late Larry Gibala (2001) and surviving wife Hazel of Windsor, Mary Harvey of Spring Lake, Michigan and Joseph Gibala and wife Celeste of LaSalle. Cherished grandmother to 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Julia was a member of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Slovak Church and their C.W.L., Sts. Cyril & Methodius Slovak Senior Citizens, and the Centres for Seniors Windsor. Julia also was one of the original members of St. Anthony Hungarian Church and a member of Mindzenty Hungarian Cultural Centre. A special thanks to the staff at Malden Park Continuing Care Centre for the kindness shown to our mother and grandmother. Visitation at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Tuesday December 15, 2009, from 2 - 5 and 7 - 9 p.m. Parish prayers Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Family and friends will be received at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Slovak Catholic Church (1532 Alexis Rd. at Seminole St.) on Wednesday December 16, 2009, for visitation from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Order of Alhambra, Guzera Caravan 72 (for the Developmentally Challenged ) (P.O. Box 1391, Windsor, Ontario, N9A-6R3) would be appreciated.
