Obituary of John Joseph Thomas
THOMAS, John Joseph It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of John Joseph Thomas on Saturday, November 14, 2009, at 86 years of age. Loving husband of Lorraine for 57 years. Dear father of Lynda Lambing (Gerry), Nancy Sedran and Gail Dunn (Tom). Cherished grandfather of Bryan, Gary, Jennifer, Jonathan, Lindsay, Nathan and Jesse. Dear great-grandfather of Dominic and Corinna. Predeceased by parents Orel and Celine Thomas, daughter Lesley and son James. John served in WW II as a gunnery sargent and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion branch # 255. He retired from Chrysler's in 1980 after 33 years of dedicated service and was a member of C.A.W. Local 444. He was an avid fisherman, carpenter, gardener and woodcarver. John was an exceptional handyman with some very imaginative approaches to home repair. Special thanks to all the wonderful staff at Windsor Regional Hospital who were so very caring over the past months. According to John's wishes cremation has already taken place. Visitation at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E., on Monday, November 16, 2009, from 3 -5 and 7 - 9 p.m. A Veteran's Service under the auspices of the Windsor Veteran's Memorial Service Committee will take place Monday at 3:30 p.m. Memorial Service onTuesday, November 17, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel.. A private family interment will take place at Victoria Memorial Gardens Cemetery at a later date.
