Obituary of Giuseppe Tonus

TONUS, Giuseppe "Joe" Passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November, 13, 2009, at the age of 74 years after a short battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Susanna (nee Pavonetto). Dearest father of Piera and husband Jeffrey Giambattista, Stella and husband David Urquhart and Sandy. Loving nonno of Christian Giambattista and Maya Urquhart. Predeceased by his parents Giuseppe and Stella Tonus. Dear brother of Antonio and wife Dina Tonus and the late Maria and Bruno Fracas. Son-in-law of Arturo and his late wife Pietrina Pavonetto (Italy). Brother-in-law of Vito and wife Mattea Pavonetto, Giuseppa and husband Pasquale Russo and Mario and wife Ignazina Pavonetto; all of Italy. Dear uncle of Rudy and wife Rosa Tonus (Egypt), Dana Tonus and husband David Dunn and Madalena and husband Wayne Murray. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Italy. Best friend of John and Luisa Pinese and cousins Santina and Franco Amato. Joe was retired from Loaring Construction after many years of dedicated service. Joe was a long time member of the Giovanni Caboto Club. Before he became ill, Joe enjoyed gardening, going for walks and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and also with his friends. A special thank you to Para-med nurse Daze, personal support workers David and Cindy, the palliative care hospice doctors and to the CCAC for the excellent care given to a great husband, father and nonno. Visiting at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E., on Monday, November 16, 2009, from 2 - 5 and 7 - 9 p.m. Parish prayers Monday at 8 p.m. Funeral Service on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at 8:45 a.m. from the Funeral Home then to St. Angela Merici Church for Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
