Obituary of Albert Francis Ray

RAY, Albert Francis Passed away peacefully on September 21, 2009 21 days shy of his 94th birthday. Devoted husband of Vilda A. Ray with whom he shared a full life of work and travel. He is survived by beloved children Vivien (Allen), Gregory (Lauri), Louis (Kathy) who loved and cherished him in good times and in sickness. Al is also survived by children from his first marriage to the late May, son Richard (2007), Barbara Baynes, David (Dagmar), Jeffrey and Daniel (Carol). Al served in the Canadian Army during WWII as a drill sergeant training hundreds of new recruits to serve overseas. Al is well remembered by his numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Among them are Adam Mailloux, Aksel, Nevin, Spencer, Connor and Olivia Ray. Al retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years of service and worked in the Methods and Standards Department. He led an active life. In his younger years, he organized and formed Youth Club "Teentown" in the 50's, umpired ball games and was a Scout leader. He was a former member of the Ushers Club of Assumption Church, life member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4386 and Royal Canadian Legion Branch #594. Al bowled and golfed with the Salaried Retirees Association until October 2008. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Royal Canadian Legion #594 prayers at 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. ending with Knights of Columbus Council #4386 prayers at 7 p.m. Funeral Service on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel. Entombment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Windsor Branch of the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
