Obituary of Neil Duncan McLean

McLEAN, Neil. Passed away peacefully on September 19, 2009, surrounded by his family, at the age of 86 years. Beloved husband of 62 years to Frances (nee O'Neil). Loving father to Ron and wife Carol, Linda and husband David Knopf, Brian and wife Donna, Mark and wife Rosanne, Shirley and fiancee Cliff Speirs, and Alan and wife Wendy. Cherished grandfather to Dawn, Jason, Mathew, Faith, Joya, Isaac, Josiah, Heather, Justin, Caitlin, Neil, Mark Jr., William, Rose Marie, and Michelle. Great-grandfather to Lauren, Christian, Cassandra, Samuel, Maddox, Ronan, Brionna, and Evelyn. Dear brother to Dorothy Lewis and late husband Carl, and Helen Snelgrove and late husband John. Predeceased by parents, Edna and Hector McLean, brother, Ross McLean, and In-laws, Frank and Clara O'Neil. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Neil was a World War II Veteran, proud member for 62 years of I.B.E.W. and past business manager of Local 773, a member of Royal Canadian Legion #255 and a long standing member of the Moose Lodge. In his past time, Neil was a dedicated poker player with St. Theresa Golden Age Club and Most Precious Blood Senior's Club. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Monday, September 21, 2009 from 7 - 9 pm and Tuesday from 2 - 5 and 7 - 9 pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at St. Theresa's Church (1991 Norman Rd.) from 9 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A Veteran's service under the auspices of the Windsor Veteran's Memorial Service Committee will take place Tuesday at 3 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario or Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
