Obituary of Douglas Benson

BENSON, Douglas Passed away peacefully, at Hotel Dieu Hospital, September 13, 2009, at the age of 87 years. Beloved husband to Geraldine (nee Durocher). Dearest father of Sandra and husband Mike LeClair, Robert (1993) and Nancy, Rebecca and husband Len Bondy, Ronald and Lynn, Kathleen (2003), Laurie and husband Ken Musson, Douglas and wife Annette and Michelle and husband Wilfred Slater. Predeceased by parents William and Mary Benson. Cherished grandfather of 21 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Thalma Warren and late husband Ernest. Douglas was the owner of Custom Ornamental Iron Fence and former owner of B and M Tire Company. He was also a veteran in World War II, serving in the both the Merchant Navy and the Royal Canadain Air Force. Visiting at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E., on Monday September 14, 2009 from 7 - 9 p.m. Veterans Service Monday at 7:30 p.m. under the auspices of the Windsor Veterans Memorial Service Committee. Funeral Service Tuesday September 15, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel. Cremation to follow. A private interment to take place at a later date.
