Obituary of Samuel Kopcok
KOPCOK, Samuel “Sam”
October 22, 1948-February 21, 2020
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of this wonderful man. Passed away peacefully with family by his side on February 21, 2020 after a valiant battle following heart surgery at the age of 71 years. Sam emigrated from Bački Petrovec, Yugoslavia in 1971. Beloved husband to Maria (nee Pintier) of 44 years. Outstanding father to Samuel (Lisa), Maria, Andrea (Pawel) and Matthew. Adored grandfather (Apko) to Kaleb, Kylie and Sebastian. Predeceased by his parents Pavel and Maria Kopcok, his sister Maria Kralik (Djurko), and brother Jan Kopcok (Anna). Loving brother to Pavel (Ana), Ana (Daniel Blata), Zuzanna (Mirko Plahcinski), Andy (Kathy), and Katarina Zonjic. Sam is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Memories of Sam will be fondly treasured by Paul Misur, Eddie Pritchard, Ronan Corro along with the many friends he made through his years in the construction industry. He was known for his incredible strength and craftsmanship (Majster) and was a mentor in the trade. Along with his brothers, he built quality custom homes through their businesses Gulf Homes Ltd. and Petrovec Investments Ltd. which remain pillars of success today. He was known as “Uncle Sammy” to countless others. He was most proud of his children and grandchildren. Sam had a unique and endearing sense of humour. He was honest and incredibly hardworking. Strong as steel with a heart of gold. He made fast friends with everyone. He had a green thumb that reflected his farming roots and loved to fish. Words cannot describe our loss. He was taken too soon and will be missed dearly.
