Obituary of Gayanne Marie Nelson

NELSON, Gayanne Marie (nee Hickson) Stepped into heaven on June 24, 2009 at the age of 72 years. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, and Meme, after a strong and courageous battle with cancer. She fought with grace and dignity until the end and has now gone to be with her Lord. Beloved and devoted wife of 52 years of Ronald. Proud and loving mother of Wayne and Linda Nelson, Kyle and Lisa Nelson, Shelley and David Wiseman, Kimberly-Anne Nelson. Treasured and "adored" Meme of Christopher, Caroline, Kelley, Mitchell, Carley, Allison, Jacob and Shannon. Dear sister of Darlene and Gary Dupuis, Hilton and Millie Hickson, Raymond Hickson, Gordon Hickson, and the late George and Shirley Hickson. Daughter of the late Frank Hickson and Dorothy McKinnon. Daughter-in-law of the late Captain Manly and Margaret Nelson. Lifelong friend of Louise and Richard Belanger. Gayanne will be missed not only by her husband and family, but by many nieces, nephews and good friends. She enjoyed family times, family dinners, watching her grandchildren grow, tending to her gardens, and a "good round of Bingo". Her sense of humour, love of life, and "matter of fact outlook", will always be appreciated and never forgotten by all who knew and loved her. Special thanks to the Windsor Regional Cancer Clinic, the staff at CCAC and to Gayanne's "VON Angels" Cherie and Linda for taking such good care of our wife and mom. Thanks to Dr. Sheehan and all the wonderful nurses at Malden Park 3rd floor south for their wonderful care and support. Visitation at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Friday, June 26, 2009 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Prayers Friday at 3:30 p.m. Relatives and friends will be received for visitation on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Holy Name of Mary Parish (711 McEwan) from 9:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
