Obituary of Joseph George Yaworsky

YAWORSKY- Joseph George Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on June 5, 2009, at Extendicare, Southwood Lakes, at the age of 94 years. Beloved husband of Marie (nee McGuinness). Loving father of Gloria Laporte (Nelson), Sonia Grundy (James Abrams), James (Ann), Lesha Tompkins (Bill) and Janice Cuckovic (Petar). Cherished grandfather of Michael, Lesha, Johanna and Claude, Andre, Gloria and Karl, Angela and Patrick, Arlene and James, Jan, Elizabeth, Daniel, Meagan, Myles, Christina and Diana. Dear great-grandfather of Matthew, Samson, Evan, Erika, Jenny, Bradley, Sarah, Shawn, Conner and Toni. Survived by brother Morris. Predeceased by brothers Michael, John, Nicholas and sisters Effie and Mary. Joseph is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Joseph was a leader in the Ukrainian community, involved in numerous organizations over his many years of selfless contributions in the fields of church, community and political work. Joseph was an employee of Ford's where he served as a union steward. He established a successful home building business, Biltwel Homes, which flourished for decades. Joseph was extremely active in the parish life of St. Vladimir's Cathedral and spearheaded its construction. The family wishes to express our deepest gratitude to the staff of Southwood Lakes Extendicare, for their loving care of Joseph and the respect, dignity, and support provided to all of us. Visiting at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E., on Monday June 8, 2009, from 2 - 5 and 7 - 9 p.m. Prayers Monday at 8 p.m. Funeral Service Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at 9:15 a.m. from the Funeral Home, then to St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral for Funeral Service at 10 a.m. Interment at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
