Obituary of Joan Barre

BARRE, Joan (nee Jimiel) Passed away peacefully on May 28, 2009 at Sunrise Assisted Living. Predeceased by loving husband Edmond. Supporting Joan in her final days and throughout her life in Windsor was her loving and attentive niece Rosemary (Litster) Howe, who was as close as a daughter could be. Survived by sister Blanche Gilligan (Toronto), brother George Jamiel and wife Pauline (Quebec). Predeceased by brother Philip Jamiel, sisters Emily Jamiel, Anne Shreiner and Mary Sidaway (Windsor). Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and great nieces & nephews. Joan was the first female to attend and graduate from W.D. Lowe. And she was an Executive Secretary to the President of Bell Canada in Montreal. After retirement she moved to Windsor and became secretary for the Lebanese Club at St. Peters Maronite Church. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Sunday, May 31, 2009 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Visiting will continue on Monday, June 1, 2009 at Our Lady of the Atonement from 9:00 am until time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. A special thank you to the care givers of Sunrise Assisted Living and Bay Shore for all the love and compassionate care given to Joan.
