Obituary of Peter Simon Gieswein

GIESWEIN , Peter Simon Passed away peacefully Friday, April 3, 2009 at Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital at the age of 90. Beloved husband for 65 years to Mary Ann Gieswein (Stein) (2002); and father to Robert and his wife Maureen of Lenoir City, Tennessee; John and his wife Judy of Livonia, Michigan; and Peter and his wife Barbara of Windsor, Ontario. Cherished grandfather to Rob and wife Susan; Kathie (2004) and husband Dennis Sharkey; Susan and husband Grant Beard; Shelley and husband Dan Girvan; Karen and husband Tim Brady; and Christine Gieswein. Great-grandfather to Hunter and Ryan, Emily and Grant, Megan, Lauren and Samantha. Dear Brother to Eva and Paul Jelinek (1990) of Marco island Florida; and brother-in-law of John Stein (2008) and his wife Rose of Emeryville, Ontario. Fondly remembered by five nephews and one niece. Peter was a retiree of Hiram Walker and Sons, was a founding member of the Roseville New Horizons Seniors club, a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish and a long time member of the Windsor Wood Carver"s Club. The family would like to thank the staff on the sixth floor west and Dr. Ravid at Hotel Dieu Hospital for their professionalism , dedication and compassion during a very difficult time. Friends may call at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd., East (519-253-7234) on Monday, April 6, 2009 for visitation from 2-5 & 7-9 pm. Prayers Monday at 7:30 pm. Funeral Service Tuesday April 7 at 12:15 pm then to St. Vincent de Paul Church for funeral mass at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at Victoria Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
