Obituary of August Joseph Conen

August J. Conen, 80, of Windsor, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2009. Beloved husband of Linda (nee Bortolotto). Loving father of Susan Stifel (David) of Easton, PA and son, August David Conen, of Windsor. Wonderful Papa to William and Elizabeth Stifel. Dear brother of Fr. Paul Conen, James Conen and Jane Maddock. Predeceased by brother Joseph Conen. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, on January 29, 1929, he was the son of the late August and Loretta Conen. After graduating from Detroit Catholic Central, he served two years in the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of the University of Detroit and worked as a chemical engineer for BASF for over thirty years in both their Detroit and Windsor branches. When he was transferred to the Windsor branch, he met his wife, Linda. He was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church serving on the Parish Council and as a Communion minister for many years. Visiting at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E., on Monday March 16, 2009 from 7 - 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 - 5 and 7 - 9 p.m. Prayers Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Service Wednesday March 18, 2009 at 10:15 a.m. from the Windsor Chapel then to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church (804 Grand Marais R. E.) for Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
