Obituary of Vince Domitrovic

DOMITROVIC, Vince (Vinko) Lost his valiant battle with cancer on February 24th, 2009 in his 77th year, surrounded by family. Beloved husband of 49 years to Helen E. Anna (nee Nemcek). Adored father of Daniel and Michele (Ottawa), Lidia and Joseph Cimer (Unionville), and David and Renata (Toronto). Proud grandfather of Alexandre, Zoe, Nicholas, Julian, and Oliver. Dear brother of Katica and husband Joseph Grguras, Ankica and the late Evgen Karin, and Ivica Domitrovic; dear uncle of Zelko Karin, Kathy Footitt and families and predeceased by parents Barbara Domitrovic-Skalin and Juraj Domitrovic. Cherished cousin of Mirko Tomac and family and special friend to George and Mila Kalinovic. Vince will also be missed by numerous cousins, friends and kumovi throughout Canada, the United States, Croatia, and Slovakia. Vince was born on September 14th, 1932 in Milani, Croatia and immigrated to Canada in 1958. A custom tailor by trade, he established a successful 40-year career as a real estate broker. Vince was also past president of Lodge 952 of the Croatian Fraternal Union and was actively involved with Croatian cultural activities. He was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Kardinal A. Stepinac Council # 11774. A very special thank you to the staff who cared for Vince at Windsor Regional Cancer Centre, particularly our angel Marianne Ring; nurses Erline, Charlotte and Sarah on 4-West, and the palliative care team at Malden Park. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Thursday, February 26, 2009 from 7-9 p.m. and Friday, February 27, 2009 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree Prayers Thursday 8 p.m., Parish Prayer Service Friday evening at 8:00 p.m. Funeral services on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 9:15 a.m. from the Funeral Home then to St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church for Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre or to St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Church Building Fund would be appreciated.
