Bruce and I knew Tom when he lived on Marentette Beach. When we went to visit there Tom would always come over or we would go to his place and he would entertain us with his savey poems and stories. My husband still has a poem he wrote and I still have a caricature he drew of me for my 50th Birthday on a fishing buoy.I have a memory of Tom on the shores of Lake Erie when we were smelting. He drew a picture of my nephew on a piece of driftwood with a piece of chard wood from the fire,he was astonished, it looked just like him.My husband and I moved to a town east of Sault St. Maire 17 years ago,I called Tom sometimes at Christmas and we talked, later I sent Christmas cards, but I guess he had already moved and we wondered where he was.I wish we could have stayed in touch, we loved Tom and always wondered what had become of him.Reading the article in the Windsor Star just renewed our memories of him.Tom was always so robust,we knew he was older than us but we never knew he was older by that much,he never looked or acted old.The world has lost an intelligent, loving soul!
