Obituary of Thomas Horsburgh

HORSBURGH, Thomas David Passed away peacefully, on January 1, 2009, at the age of 93 years. Born May 8, 1915 in Windsor, ON. Son of David and Louise (Fluette) Horsburgh. Beloved wife Mary (Brode) (2008) of 66 years. Loved father of Mary Lou (Terry) Killen, Katherine (Jim) Peterson, of Akron, Ohio, Greg (Beth) Horsburgh, of Saskatoon, SK., and Beth Toldo, of Tecumseh. Dearest grandfather of Scott (Jen) Killen, David (Sue) Killen, Sean Killen, Anne (Steve) Petersen, Jennifer (Curt) Judy, Amy (Justin) Yamana, Jessica Horsburgh, Chad Horsburgh, Chris Toldo and Katie Toldo. Great-grandfather to Mark, A.J., Lauren, Ethan, Eric, Kelly, Cooper, Elizabeth, Nicholas and Caroline. Brother of the late Angus (Babe) Horsburgh (1977), Myrtle Lewis (1991) and Robert Horsburgh (1996). Brother in law of Bernard Brode; Shirley Joseph, Melbourne, Florida and Jack Brode, LaBelle, Florida; the late George (Bud) Brode (2004), Joseph Brode (1976), William Brode (1975) and Joyce Fournier (1977). Will be missed by sisters in law Patricia Brode and Joanne Brode. Survived by several nieces and nephews. Tom retired from Chrysler Corporation following 40 years of service. He played baseball for many years in several Windsor leagues. Bowling was also a favourite pastime . Tom was an active member of the Riverside K of C. #4924 for over 42 years. He was one of the founding members of the Senior Card Club at Lauzon Rd. K of C. Visiting will be held at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E., on Sunday, January 4, 2009, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m, parish prayers at 3 p.m followed by K of C prayers. Family and friends are invited to visit at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church (834 Raymo Rd.) on Monday, January 5, 2009 from 10:30 am until time of Funeral Mass in celebration of Tom's life at 11 am. Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
