Obituary of Leonard Stephen Sylvestre
SYLVESTRE, Leonard S. Passed away at the age of 90 years peacefully on December 18, 2008 at Hospice Village with his loving wife and family by his side. Lover, husband and best friend of Elizabeth (nee Chittle) for 66 blessed years of marriage. Loving father to John Sylvestre (Bev), James Sylvestre (Jeannette), Mary Edna Marion (Dan), Dennis Sylvestre (Sharon), and Mary Jane O'Keefe (Mike). Cherished grandfather of 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Dear son of the late Ludger Sylvestre (1964) and Annie Damm (1949). Loving brother to Catherine Laporte and predeceased by siblings Helen Sylvestre (1921), Marguerite Comartin (1949), Archie (1986), Omer (1989), Arlene Rhien (1994), Lucille Deschamps (1996), Louis (1996). Leonard was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and his family meant a great deal to him. As a proud farmer his labour of love was the land. Mr. Sylvestre was a 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 4375, 4th Degree Dean Wagner Assembly #0862, and a member of Order of the Alhambra Guzera Caravan #72. Visitation at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Friday, December 19, 2008 from 2 to 9 p.m. Parish Prayers Friday at 3 p.m. and the 3rd degree and 4th degree Knights of Columbus Prayers at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at St. Anne's Church in Tecumseh (12233 Tecumseh Rd. E.) where he will lie in state from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass of the Resurrection at 11 a.m. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to Hospice Village or to St. Anne's Church Keep the Bells Ringing Fund.
