Obituary of Nadia Yacoub
YACOUB, Nadia “Benny”
It is with broken hearts that our family announces the passing of Nadia, a beloved Mother, Grandmother and Sister, on December 15, 2024, at the age of 59. Nadia was born June 6, 1965 to Youhanna (1966) and Hiny (2023) (née Youkhanna) Yacoub in Baghdad, Iraq. Seeking a better life, the family journeyed from Iraq to Italy, before immigrating to Windsor, Ontario, in 1981.
She had a childlike joy; a winsome personality that filled the room, her laughter and smile, were nothing short of magnetic. She loved to take walks by the river, singing and belly dancing.
Nadia was a homemaker who cherished her time with her Daughter Emon, Son in law Justin, and grandchildren Carter, Roman, and Vera. She had unwavering, sold out, faith in Jesus Christ, always praying for everyone. She made time to reach out to those she loved.
Nadia is survived by her siblings Yacoub and Susan Yacoub, Amina and Enwiya Enwiya, late Kelly Yacoub (2012), Gabriel and Ginetta Yacoub, Rose and Fouad Yousif, Evlin Yacoub, Andy and Aieda Yacoub, and Nabila Yacoub. She will greatly missed by her nieces and nephews, John, Sinan (Janelle), Jivan, Julie, Ramis (Jessica), Rami (2000), Jina, Gabe (Linda), Sara (Armand), Michael, Natasha (Nick), Christopher (Amber), Sandoval (Athraa), Andrewval, Rachell, and Louie Jr (Inda).
Though our hearts break and we miss her to no end, we rest in God’s sovereignty; His truth, that he is in control. He gives and he takes away. We honour her memory first by being our best, fearfully and wonderfully made, beloved children of God, seeing those we love with the eyes of Christ. He desires us to be in close relationship with Him; He created us for no other purpose. Therefore, we celebrate Benny because she lived out her purpose with her maker. With grieving hearts we proclaim, the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
