Obituary of Janko Zapcic

ZAPCIC, Janko. It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather after a courageous battle with cancer, on December 14, 2008 at the age of 81 years. Janko is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Stefica (nee Rados). Loving father to Marica Palajsa and husband Drago of Windsor, Stefica Sajko and husband Ivica of Oakville. Cherished grandfather to Marina Marlovits and husband Ed (Windsor), Heidi Palajsa (Calgary), Robert Palajsa and wife Diana (London), Cindy Sajko (Oakville), Jason Sajko (Oakville), great grandchildren Vienna and Matteus Marlovits, and Luka Palajsa. Dear brother to Mijo Zapcic and wife Dragica of Slovenia. Predeceased by parents Mijo and Josipa Zapcic and sisters, Ana and Dragica, brothers Ivan, Vlado and Nikola; all of Croatia, and great-granddaughter Elena Marlovits. Dear brother-in-law to Ivan Rados and wife Ana of Windsor and Uncle to Vlado Gojmerac, Zdenko Rados and Darlene Rados; all of Windsor. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Croatia. Janko was born in Lovic Prekriski, Vivodina, Croatia and immigrated to Canada in 1967. He was a retiree of Kelsey Hayes and a parishoner of St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church. Janko was proud of his Croatian heritage and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers Tuesday at 8 p.m. Funeral Services Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 9:15 a.m. from the Funeral Home then to St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church for Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Church Building Fund, Windsor Regional Cancer Centre or St. Lovro Church in Vivodina, Croatia.
