Obituary of Fitz Adolphus Moore

With gratitude for a life well lived, we announce that Fitz Adolphus Moore has gone home to join God and the ancestors on October 10, 2024.  Loving, selfless, devoted father of Irene Moore Davis (Rodney) of Windsor. Predeceased by his wife Ethel Andrea Moore (nee Shreve,) his parents Ada Depesa and Joseph “Witty” Moore, his guardian Helen Brewster, and siblings Gwen, Hilda, Florence, Frank, Edith, and Victor. Survived by his sister Sybil Callender of San Fernando, Trinidad (still going strong at 103) along with relatives in Trinidad, Jamaica, the United Kingdom, and the United States. He will be missed by his siblings-in-law of many years, James Shreve of London, Ontario, Catherine (Patrick) Adu Peasah of Lexington, Kentucky, and Claudia (Floyd) Craig of Gold Canyon, Arizona, as well as by many extended family members, friends, and fellow members of his faith community at All Saints’ Anglican Church Windsor.

Born in Princes Town, Trinidad and raised in San Fernando, Fitz became an electrician, working in Trinidad, England, and Toronto before making his way to Windsor, first as an employee of the Hydro-Electric Power Commission of Ontario and ultimately at Ford where he was employed for 28 years.

Fitz was a devout, prayerful man and an avid reader of books about faith: he often enjoyed sharing them with others. He loved mystery novels, too. He had a deep appreciation for music of many kinds, especially classical music, and could often be heard singing or whistling along to his favourite operas. For his kindness, congeniality, wit, and generosity, he will be fondly remembered as a true gentleman.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the outstanding staff of 4 West at Windsor Regional Hospital, Metropolitan Campus, who offered Fitz such compassionate care in his final weeks.

Cremation has taken place.  Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home (South Chapel), 3048 Dougall Avenue, Windsor (519-253-7236) on Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.  Visitation/Family Hour will continue on Friday, October 18, 2024 at All Saints’ Anglican Church, 330 City Hall Square, Windsor, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Steve Greene will be the celebrant, assisted by Gerard Phillips.  If you so desire, memorial donations to All Saints’ Anglican Church will be gratefully accepted.
