Obituary of Patrick Paschal Nicell

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Patrick Paschal Nicell on October 8, 2024, at the age of 91. Loving husband of Barbara for over 66 years. Beloved father of Joan, Aideen (Michel), Jim (Dawn), Marie O’Neil (Scott), and Mike (Tracy). Cherished Grandad of Trevor (Emilie), Steven (Katie), Devin (Scarlett), Liam (Sarah), Aiden, Kieran, Seamus, Colin, Sean, Brendan, and Conor. Loving Great-Grandad of Michael, Ashley, and Sophia. Son of Michael and Martha. Beloved brother of Michael and Paul; half-brother of Conor McGaley. He will be forever missed by his extended family and many friends who loved him dearly.

Patrick was born in Dublin, Ireland, and moved to Montreal, Canada immediately following his marriage to Barbara, eventually relocating to Windsor. He embraced his new country, but never lost his love for Ireland and his Irish heritage. He was an active member in the community, especially in service of his local parish. Patrick was a dedicated family man, a talented painter, a lover of music and Irish dancing, and a loyal member of the Irish Canadian Cultural Club of Windsor. He enjoyed camping with his family, swimming in his backyard pool, family dinners (the bigger the better!), Irish Club symposiums, meeting new people, and keeping up with current events. Patrick took particular joy in spending time with his eleven grandsons (!!!) and three great-grandchildren.

The grief of our loss will be with us for a long time, but the joy of our memories will stay forever.

Memorial visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (South Chapel) 3048 Dougall Ave. (519-253-7236) on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Prayers at 4:30 p.m.  A funeral mass will take place on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 11:00 am at Corpus Christi Church (1400 Cabana Rd W).
