Obituary of Vassilios "Billy" Mersinidis

Passed away at the age of 68 years after a short, courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Erie Shores Hospice in Leamington while surrounded by his family. Beloved and loyal husband of Janet for over 44 years. Dear and loving father of Michelle and Christina (Mike). Proud grandfather “Papou” of Owen, Jaxon, Theo and Christopher. Predeceased by his mother Zoe and father Michael as well as his brother Peter. Bill will be sadly missed by his mother-in-law Norma Hebert and father in-law Roger Renaud. Also missed by several sisters and brothers-in-law, especially Maria and Roger Renaud as well as several nieces and nephews.

Billy immigrated to Canada at 10 years old, ran a successful restaurant in downtown Windsor in the 1970s. After meeting his soulmate Janet, they wed and moved to Alberta for a short time and then returned to Windsor before heading back to Greece where they lived and raised a loving family for 20 years. Vassili returned to Canada in 2017 and settled in Kingsville, where he resided until his death.

Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel South, 3048 Dougall Avenue, (519-253-7236) on Sunday, August 11, 2024 from 10:30am until the Celebration of Life at 12:30pm in Chapel. Cremation to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County would be greatly appreciated.
