Obituary of Shirley Lauzon (nee Gillis)

89 years, peacefully passed away in her sleep on August 3, 2024. Reunited with her beloved husband Roland (2015), son Richard (2023), daughter in law Donna (2023), and granddaughter Anne (2002). Loving Mother of Francis, Anne Marie Lopez (John), Claudette Shorts (Chris), Robert (Annette), Paulette Kennedy (Ken), Nicole Davenport (Steven) and daughter in law Joelle. Devoted Mémé of Elise (Matt), Kevin (Sarah); Lauren, Matthew (Gillian); Meagan, Dalton (Melissa); Katlyn, Thomas; Gillis, Olivia, Isabelle; Evan, Brianna, and Grandé Mémé of Anna and Emily. Predeceased by her parents Katie Belle and Roderick Gillis, and siblings Joan MacNeil, Annie McKinnon, Alice Campbell, Lorena “Mary” Steele, Clarence “Clary” Gillis, Michael “Buddy” Gillis, Roderick Gillis and Florence Seeward. Dear Sister of Jeanette Zucco, Carol Reed, Sandra MacNeil and Margie MacNeil. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Shirley began her career working at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia in administration. She continued her career in 1955, moving to Windsor, working in administration for the RCMP.

She had a love of cooking and baking. After raising her 7 children, she began her own pastry business in 1975, where she lovingly created many beautiful cakes and pastries. She also worked at the Polonia Centre as the lead baker.

Visitation will take place at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME – BANWELL CHAPEL, 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 2-4 pm and 6- 8 pm. Parish Prayers at 6:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 10:00 am until time of procession to St. Anne’s Church for Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at St. Anne’s Cemetery.
