Obituary of Josip "Joe" Zugcic

ZUGCIC, Josip "Joe" It is with broken hearts that our family announces the passing of our loving Husband, Father, Dede, Brother, Kum and Friend on July 26, 2024, at the age of 77, while surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband to Rosemary (nee Kirin) with whom he celebrated 51 years of blessed marriage. Loving and devoted father to his daughters, Alison and Lynn Zugcic. Cherished and adored Dede to his grandsons Dino and Noa Zugcic-Dodik who carried a special place in his heart. Dear brother to Ljilja Jakoplic (Ivica) of Windsor and Marica Milasin (late Stevo) and family of Croatia. Joe is predeceased by his parents Janko and Bara Zugcic, and siblings Ljuba Bezjak (Ivan), Jana Palajsa (Ivan), Dragan Zugcic, Ignac Zugcic and surviving partner Dragica. Loving son in-law to Katica Kirin and late husband Steve of Windsor and dear brother in-law to late Ann Projic (2024) and surviving husband "Badjo"Ivan of Windsor. Adored uncle to Jeffrey and Christopher Jakoplic (Nancy) and family, and Melissa Peric (Ivan)and family, and Melanie Projic (Arman Celik). Joe retired from Chrysler Canada with 30 years of dedicated service. He was a member of Unifor Local 444 and a devout parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Church, and member of the Windsor Croatia Soccer Club. Joe will be remembered for his kind and generous heart and for his unwavering and unconditional love for his family. He truly enjoyed spending quality time with his family at the family cottage in Grand Bend, ON. He will be forever remembered for having a green thumb and attending to his garden of red roses, making homemade kobasa, wine and blueberry and cherry whiskey. A sincere and heartfelt thank you to Dr. Laura Voltic and the staff at WRH, Ouellette Campus on 8 West (doctors, nurses, Respiratory, ICU and St. Elizabeth Healthcare PSW's for their compassionate and exceptional care provided to Joe. Friends will be received at Windsor Chapel (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. 519-253-7234 on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 from 2:00 - 5:00pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Parish prayers at 4:30pm. Funeral Service on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at 9:45am from the funeral home then in procession to St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church for Funeral Mass at 10:30am. Interment to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens. As an expression of sympathy and to honour Joe's life, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Windsor-Essex or St. Francis of Assisi Church Building Fund.
