Obituary of Diane Van Hooren (nee Menard)

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Diane, a beloved mother, grandmother, and GG whose radiant soul graced our lives with her warmth, laughter, and boundless kindness. She passed away surrounded by family leaving behind a legacy of love and precious memories.

Reunited with the love of her life and soulmate of 56 years Andy (2013).  Loving mother to Mary Ann Montagano, Patti Martin (Craig) and Robert Van Hooren (Diana Lombardi). Much loved Grandma to Lauren Vilandré (Chris), Mike Montagano (Erika), Jacob Van Hooren, Kyle Martin and Kelsea Martin (Alex Keys).  Pre-deceased by grandchildren Andrea and Daniel Van Hooren (2001).

Loving GG to Luca, Leighton, Harper and Gabriel.

Cherished daughter of the late Alcide and Elmira Menard and daughter-in- law to the late Triphon and Marguerite Van Hooren. Devoted sister to Virginia Hogan (the late Bernie), Doreen Chodola (the late Richard) and Claire Douglas (the late Donald). Loving sister-in-law to Keith and Dorothy Plante and Sandy Menard (the late Jack). Predeceased by brothers and sisters-in-law Bob and Marie Menard, Clarence and Eleanor Menard, Gordon Menard, Jack and Margaret Menard, and Marcel and Eugenie Van Hooren.

Cherished and dearest friend to Beverly Smith (Earl) and Lillian Fairhurst (the late Joe), as well as many other friends of the Drop In Tavern Fastball team. Diane is also survived by many nieces and nephews, who will treasure her memory forever.

Mom was the epitome of a social butterfly, effortlessly making friends wherever she went. Her gift of gab was unmatched, and she could strike up a conversation with anyone, turning strangers into friends in mere moments. Her genuine interest in others and her ability to keep conversations flowing made her the heart of any gathering.

She was known for her boundless kindness, unwavering patience, and her ability to light up any room with her smile. Her nurturing spirit touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She found joy in simple pleasures, and her home was always open to family and friends, where she shared laughter and unconditional love.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the medical staff and caregivers of Huron Lodge, especially Max, Patrick, Jeff, Alma and Brandon who provided exceptional care and support to mom these past seven months.

Though she may be gone from our sight, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her dearly.

Forever in our hearts, Diane will be loved and remembered.

Cremation has taken place. We invite friends and family to join us for a Celebration of Life on Sunday, July 21, 2024, from 1 – 3pm at the Ciociaro Club, 3745 N Talbot Rd, Oldcastle, ON N0R 1L0.
