Obituary of Edith "Jean" Bullock

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mom, nan and nanny. Jean passed away peacefully at the age of 94 years on April 26, 2024. Beloved wife of Colin Bullock (2020) for over 70 years. Loving mom and best friend to Penny Lauer (Steve) and the late Stuart (Ellori). Cherished Nan of Mike Lauer (Katie), Heather Lauer (Greg Overguard), Daniel Lauer (Jasmine), Scott Lucier (Laura) and Derek Lucier (Melissa). Nanny to Caleb and Lyla Lauer, Madden, Atticus and Palmer Overguard, Landon and Aspen Lauer, Star and Brooke Lucier. Predeceased by her parents Edith and James, and her brother Harry (1993).

Jean was born on September 15, 1929, in Birmingham England, immigrated to Canada in 1968. She worked in many fields as a seamstress, waitress, and retail store clerk. When she first came to Canada she started working at Steinberg’s. She worked there for many years, became a union steward and later was in charge of organizing monthly luncheons for past employees.

She ran a ladies bowling league on Tuesdays for 25 years and a mixed league on Fridays for 20 years. She had many hobbies such as wood carving and oil painting just to name a few. She loved creating pastries and delicious pies.  Jean was social butterfly and loved animals. She was friendly with all her neighbours and loved being with people. She was also an avid golfer and enjoyed her sail boat which was at Puce Marina. In her later years she opened her own ladies consignment store, where she did minor alterations.  Above all, family was most important to her.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at Aspen Lake for their exceptional compassionate care, especially Kirsty.
