Obituary of Maria Grebenc

Passed away peacefully at Extendicare- Tecumseh with family by her side on Thursday, April 4th, 2024, at the age of 100 years. Predeceased by her beloved spouse John Grebenc (2012) with whom she shared 64 years of marriage. She was the loving mother of Mary (late Wylie) Slack; Ann (Joe) Rocnik; the late John (Fran) Grebenc, and Joe Grebenc. Loving Stara Mama of Mike (Brenda) Rocnik; Tina (Tom) Gelinas; Josie (Darren Morrison) Rocnik, Ryan (Kristen) Grebenc, Kristen (Jay) Fanelli, and great Stara Mama of Jack, Kate and Lucy Gelinas, Lyndon, Delilah, Grayson, Mila Fanelli, JR, Remi Grebenc, and Petra Morrison-Rocnik. Predeceased by loving parents and five siblings. She is survived by siblings Anton (Vera) Grebenc and Iva (Tone) Purkart in Slovenia and Stane (Mici) Grebenc in Argentina. She will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews and extended family in Canada, Slovenia, Argentina. Maria was a member of the Slovenian Club Zvon, and she thoroughly enjoyed cooking traditional foods for the community and family. She was devoted to her faith and was a long-time parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Church. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Ian McLeod, the PSW’s, and the nurses at Extendicare- Tecumseh for their tremendous care and support to Maria.

Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home – Banwell Chapel (11677 Tecumseh Rd. E.) 519-253-7235 on Sunday, April 7th, 2024, from 4-7pm. Parish prayers will be held at 6pm. Visitation will continue at Ste. Anne’s Parish on Monday, April 8th, 2024, from 10 until time of Mass at 11am. Interment will follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
