Obituary of Emile Sloboda

With deep sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of Emile Sloboda, 88 years old, at Huron Lodge Residence on Sunday, March 24, 2024.
 

Loving husband of Gloria (Meronick) for 61 wonderful years. Son of the late Mary and Steven Sloboda (Saskatchewan). Dear brother of the late Mary (Gord) Jarrold and the late Irene (Cary) Garant. Loving father to Steve (late Trish), Jennifer (Denis) Roy, Julie (Bob) Ray and Eric (Kristina) Sloboda. Caring grandfather to late Alex, Matthew, Loewen, Jeffrey, Marjorie, Madisyn, Danny and Scarlet.
 

Emile was born in Wakaw, Saskatchewan and moved to Windsor, Ontario at age 2, where he was raised and resided throughout his life. He attended W.D. Lowe Collegiate where he was active in sports and began an early career in auto mechanics. He later worked at Sears and Victoria Memorial Gardens, where his dedication lead to long and successful careers at both.
 

Emile had a life long passion for playing hockey and was a regular at the skating arena for over 50 years. He will be fondly remembered by his teammates of the Oldtimers Hockey League. He also avidly watched sports on television, and was a huge fan of the Detroit Red Wings.

Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel – Banwell Chapel on Wednesday, March 27, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 10:00am. Burial to follow at Victoria Memorial Gardens.
