Obituary of Maria Lopez

It is with profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our precious mother Maria in her 86th year with her family by her side. Reunited with her husband Felice (1995). Loving mother to Rose (Mario, 2018) Migliarese, John (Lisa) Lopez, Sammy (Jackie) Lopez, and Joe (Cheri) Lopez. Adored grandmother of Joseph (Gina Bussoli) and Tony (Rebecca Kettle) Migliarese, Johnny Jr., Alex (Joanna), and Maxwell (Rachel Canji) Lopez, Dr. Nick Lopez and Carly (Dean) Mastronardi, and Daria and Marina Lopez. Blessed great-grandmother of Lucy and Stella Migliarese, Leo and Lola Mastronardi, and Cathryn Lopez. Maria is also survived by her brother Joe (Rosemary, 2012) Bonasso and his children. She is predeceased by her parents Salvatore and Antonietta (nee Tedesco) Bonasso, her sister, whom she missed so dearly, Isabella Barile and her husband Francesco. Also predeceased by her sister-in-law Rosetta Marazita and her husband Antonio. Maria will be missed by her nieces and nephews especially Tony, Sam, and Joe Barile who loved and treated her like their own mother. She also leaves behind many cousins in Canada, U.S. and Italy. A special thank you to mom's dear friend Caterina Belcastro who provided her support and companionship.

Mom and Dad immigrated from San Giovanni in Fiore, Italy in 1960 to make a better life for their growing family. Mom's love for her family was profound and her dedication to them unwavering. She was selfless, kind, and compassionate as well as being strong and independent. Mom was also a devout Catholic and her deep faith in the Lord gave her immense strength during her final journey. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Freeman, the wonderful and dedicated team at Erie Shores Hospice, and the staff of St. Elizabeth Health Care.

Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (South Chapel) 3048 Dougall Avenue (519-253-7236) on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm, and 7:00 pm to 9:00pm, with Parish Prayers at 4:45pm. Funeral Service on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 9:15am at the funeral home followed by procession to Corpus Christi Church (1400 Cabana Rd. W) for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. In memory of Maria, donations may be made to the Erie Shores Hospice.
