Obituary of Robert Brian Pula (P.Eng)

It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Bob on Sunday, February 18th, 2024 at the age of 78. Survived by his loving wife Penelope Jane Pula of 54 years. Cherished children Robert (Jennifer), Andrew (Jenna), and Katie (Shawn). Adored Papa to Audrey, Molly, Lucy, Emma, Hunter, and Noah. Brother to Peter (Jan) Pula. He will be missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Predeceased by parents Peter and Alice Pula, in-laws William and Joyce Whitehead. Robert was a partner and owner of Wilson-Dario and Associates Consulting Engineering Firm for over 35 years. He continued on with Dillon Engineering until his retirement. Bob graduated from the University of Waterloo in Electrical Engineering in 1972, and had a passion for all things power and electricity related. If you’d mention even a few words or ask a question about electricity you’d better be prepared to sit down and grab yourself a drink. Bob was known by many as a master builder and fixer whether it be his home, cottage, or furniture for his grandchildren. He was someone that would be there in a heart beat for anyone that needed help with building or fixing anything, friends or family. Bob had a love and fascination for fast cars. As a young kid, he figured out how to build go-carts out of wood and lawn mower motors. This interest only grew as he became an adult and bought his beloved Tiger Sunbeam, and later in life his Z350. He also felt most at home and relaxed when he was connected to the great outdoors in northern Ontario. Bob and Penny rebuilt an incredible family cottage outside of Parry Sound, which was a place of great solitude for both of them. Bob also took adventurous fishing trips with his brother Peter into remote pockets of northern Ontario, bringing home many stories of the fun he would have with his brother roughing it in nature. Above all, Bob embodied “acts of service” as a way of showing his love. He showed up for his family, big and small, every single day of his life. He was the ultimate family provider, the gentle patriarch, the axis point of our family. The tremendous amount of love we have for this incredible man, is now matched by the deep pain we are left with in his absence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert’s honour to the Windsor Cancer Centre or Humane Society of Windsor-Essex. Memorial visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home - Banwell Chapel 11677 Tecumseh Rd E. (519-253-7235) on Saturday, February 24th, 2024 from 2-5pm.
