Obituary of Dwight Voakes

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father, and grandfather on February 14 in London, ON.

Born Jan. 15, 1950, dearest husband of Anita (nee Querin) for just shy of 54 years. Proud father to Shawn and wife Lisa. Devoted Grandpa to Sydney and Avery. Will also be missed by his special buddy Harper.

Oldest brother to Greg and wife Lori of Tecumseh and sister Shelley Gallerno of Ridgetown. Late son of Oswald and Florence Voakes and son in law of Giovanni and Justina Querin. Brother in law of Dolores Querin, Darlene and Mario Fenech, Al and Gail Querin, Roger Querin, Norma Querin, Wayne and Pat Querin, late Tony Querin. Louise Kanto, Orlando and Hildy Querin, Brian and Gail Querin and Rick Querin.

Survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dwight was the logistics co-ordinator of Cooper Standard North America in Novi, Michigan and retired at the age of 62.

He loved to play baseball in his younger years. Was an avid Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Lions fan. Dwight could listen for hours to all eras of country music, and his happiest place was on the golf course with friends.

Dwight volunteered for Wheels of Hope Windsor Cancer Society, driving people in need to various appointments.

An expression of sympathy donation to Wheels of Hope Windsor Cancer Society, The Heart and Stroke Foundation, or Diabetes Canada would be appreciated by the family.

Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home (South Chapel), 3048 Dougall Avenue (519-253-7236) on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 11am. As per Dwight’s wishes, cremation will take place following funeral services.
