Obituary of Melissa Maria Campanaro
CAMPANARO, Melissa Maria
It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dearest Melissa on January 29th, 2024 at 44 years of age. She is the beloved daughter of Vito Campanaro and Rita (nee DePalma). Loving sister of Deana Shaooni (Rob), Andrea Spadafora (Marco), and Laura Campanaro. Cherished and adored “Auntie Mel” to Evelina, Adrian and Luna. Predeceased by her grandparents Antonio and Maria Campanaro
and Celestino and Grazia DePalma. Loving niece of Teresa (Ben) Maltese, Nick (Giulia) DePalma, the late Pasquale and Teresa DePalma, the late Maria and Vito Amennuno, Teresa (Felix) Talerico, and the late Isabella (Frank) D’Agnillo. She will be missed by many cousins and dear friends in Canada and the United States.
We are most grateful for Giovanna Reaume who enriched Melissa’s life over the past 15 years. She provided her with many life skills and went above and beyond to bring her happiness and joy everyday. Another special person in Melissa’s life was Ryan who brought her so much love and happiness.
Melissa had a gift of teaching others to enjoy the simple pleasures of life and has taught us so many life lessons, which has influenced her family to be the people they are. While Melissa had a special love for all her sisters, she shared an unbreakable bond with Laura, who cared for her and fulfilled her life with many memorable moments. No words can ever describe the love and adoration within this bond. Melissa volunteered at numerous places and will be missed by many residents and staff from her current work at Chartwell Retirement home. She was involved with the Italian Canadian Handicapable Association (I.C.H.A) for 32 years where she participated in soccer, basketball, bowling, painting, dancing, yoga, fishing and many holiday celebrations.
Melissa was the light of so many people’s lives and will forever be remembered as a happy-go-lucky person. She found profound joy in making others laugh and doing the smallest gestures for people such as giving out her handmade bracelets, colouring a picture or giving out stickers. Her favourite hobby was completing word searches.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the LaSalle EMS and staff at WRH Ouellette Campus. A special thank you to Ret. Inspector Ron LeClair and special friend, Sgt. Mauro Tonin for their immediate assistance.
