Obituary of Giovanni Bachetti

BACHETTI- Giovanni April 20, 1935 - January 7, 2024 Giovanni Bachetti, at the age of 88, passed away peacefully in his home he custom built in Tecumseh with his caring family by his side. Giovanni was best known for being a highly respected general contractor, musician, family man with a zest for life and humour. Through the years, he earned a reputation of delivering high-quality workmanship with integrity as he owned and operated his business Bachetti Construction Ltd. His journey began in a small town in Italy in the province of Ascoli Piceno. Like many during those times, he started working at a very young age and began searching for better opportunities by immigrating to Canada. Giovanni arrived in Canada in 1962 and brought his future bride Serafina with him from Italy to start a new family. Giovanni worked hard his entire life in the construction industry but always took time to carry on his Italian traditions with pride such as gardening, making homemade sausages, prosciutto and wine. He was a proud member of the St. Angela Church Ushers Club, member of St. Anne Parish and Voci Ciociare. Giovanni leaves behind his adoring wife and soulmate Serafina in their 60th wedding anniversary year. Predeceased and waiting to welcome him to Heaven are his parents Giuseppe Sr (1999) and Rosa (2003) and son Ettore (1971). Survived by his sons Joe (Brenda), Piero (Michelina), along with his loving grandchildren Daniela, Sabrina, Sophia, Dante and Julia. Also survived by sister Filomena Giachini (late Alessio), Sister-in-laws Gina (Santino), Maria Pia (Remo), Giannina (Pietro). Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends from Canada and Italy. A heartfelt thank you to all the compassionate personal support workers especially Anne, Anu, Jeff, Linda, Sabrina, Saleem and the team at the Alzheimer's Society. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Banwell Chapel), 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E., Windsor (519-253-7235) on Thursday, January 11 , 2024 from 2:00PM until 5:00PM and 7:00PM until 9:00PM with parish prayers at 4:30PM. Visitation will continue on Friday January 12, 2024 at St. Anne Church (Tecumseh ) 12233 Tecumseh Rd E from 10:00am until time of funeral mass at 11:00am. Entombment to follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and in kindness, donations in memory of Giovanni may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Windsor Essex County or In Honour Of The Ones We Love.
