Obituary of Rolando Vinuya

In Loving Memory of Rolando Vinuya

Our beloved husband, father, and Lolo, Rolando “Rody” Vinuya, passed away peacefully on December 26th, 2023, surrounded by family. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Isabelita, and children, Romel (Karen) Vinuya, Roselle (John) Vinuya-Parent, Raymond (Mandy) Vinuya, and Renee (Peter) Hamelin. “Lolo” was also adored by his grandchildren, Grace, Ryann, Annabelle, Brennan, Lucy, Anthony, Brydan, Violet, Ava, and Maddan.

Born on October 6th, 1939, to the late, Moises and Pacita Vinuya, in Pampanga, Philippines, “Rody” was the middle child, and only brother, to 4 sisters, whom he cherished dearly. After working on large, inter-continental ships as a machinist, he found work in Pickering, Ontario, and settled in Toronto in 1967. Rudy then moved his family to Windsor, Ontario, and was instrumental in bringing numerous immediate and extended family members and friends to Canada. He worked for many years at LaSalle Machine Tool and Die, and JFK Systems, where he formed many friendships and countless memories.

Rody had an unmatched sense of humor and a love of music that he shared through jokes and warm serenades to his family. He also had a passion for golf, bowling, and took pride in tending to his pond and garden.

He is predeceased by his first wife, Rebecca (nee Romero); sister and brother in law, Leticia and Reynaldo Roberto; Brother in law, Feliciano Casabal; and sister and brother in law, Emerita and Angelito Balingit.

He will be deeply missed by his beloved sister, Corazon Casabal, and numerous friends, nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews, whom he loved and cherished.

We would like to thank the countless doctors, nurses, PSW’s, and staff who have provided such thoughtful care and attention to our dad through the years, especially Nurse Marissa, and PSW Russell, for the special bond you created with him. We would also like to thank Dr. Bagga and his team at Renal Clinic Home Care, and the amazing staff and volunteers at Hospice for the compassionate care you provided to our father during his time there. Your support meant a lot to our family.
