Obituary of Emerita Balingit
In Loving Memory of Emerita Balingit (nee Vinuya)
Emerita Balingit passed away peacefully on December 24th, 2023 surrounded by her loving neices and nephews. Born on August 10th, 1946, in the Philippines to parents, Moises and Pacitia Vinuya, "Emer" was the loving wife of the late Angelito "Lito" Balingit, who together built a life filled with love and joy alongside numerous friends and family, in Windsor, Ontario.
She will be deeply missed by her beloved sister, Corazon Casabal, and her late husband Feliciano; brother to the late Rolando Vinuya and wife Isabelita; sister to the late Leticia Roberto and late husband, Reynaldo; and sister to the late Rosie Reyas and husband Efran.
After the loss of her beloved husband, "Dar," she was survived by her many nieces and nephews, and learned to navigate through life with a new found strength and independence.
She will finally be reunited with her loving Dar, siblings and parents.
Emerita cherished her role as Tita(aunt) to Marilyn (Shem) Rudowski, Mariane (Michael) Iatonna, Romel (Karen) Vinuya, Raymond (Mandy) Vinuya, Roselle (John) Vinuya-Parent, Renee (Peter) Hamelin, Ronaldo (Regina) Casabal, Emerald (Sean) Thibert, and Reginald (Karolina) Casabal, leaving behind a legacy of love that extends throughout generations.
She will be remembered by her many great nieces and nephews, Anthony and Ava Iatonna; Grace, Ryann and Brennan Vinuya; Brydan and Maddan Vinuya; Annabelle, Lucy and Violet Hamelin; Ethan and Carissa Thibert; and Coralin Casabal, all of whom which she greatly loved.
Emerita worked for over 35 years at Hotel Dieu Hospital, where she spent most of her career in the OR, and various positions, and established many long lasting relationships. Emer was an inspiration of courage, warmth, and kindness. She was loved by many co-workers and colleagues, and whether throughout her work or with her family, she was always known as being cheerful and jolly.
As a family, we would like to thank the staff of four north at Windsor Regional Hospital Met Campus for their compassionate care.
To celebrate Emerita's life, a visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home (Banwell Location) at 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E, Windsor, ON N8N 4S5, (519)253-7235 on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024, from 2-5pm and 7-9pm. Prayers Tuesday at 7pm. A Funeral mass will take place on Wednesday, January 3rd, 2024, at the Our Lady of the Atonement Parish at 2940 Forest Glade Dr, Windsor, ON N8R 1L5, with viewing at 10am and mass at 11am. The procession and burial will follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 1100 Division Rd, Windsor, ON N8W 1Z6.As your expression of sympathy donatons may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
