As the Winter Solstice sets in, and we prepare for the new season, we say “Aurevoir” to our generous, kind, loving Husband, Father, Pépé, Uncle, and Friend. Early on, Andy was employed with Kane Hardware’s as a travelling toy salesman, and there after moved onto his career at General Motors (Trim Plant) and worked there for 30+ years. A dedicated member to his community, he was involved in Knights of Columbus (Fr. Nicholas Point Council 4375) while also being celebrated as the oldest member. A proud Francophone, Andy was a long-time board member of the Club St. Jean Baptiste. His love of history led to him becoming one of the founding members of the Tecumseh Historical Society. One of Andy’s favourite past times was singing. He enjoyed being a member of the Sun Parlor Chapter Barbershop Quartet and was awarded Barbershopper of the year in 1967. Andy is proud to have wooed his Wife Irene with an impromptu solo of “Cigarettes and Whiskey and Wild Wild Women”. For years, he could be heard singing French Lullabies to his grandbabies while rocking and soothing them with a chunk of Polish sausage. Andy was an avid and infamous grocery shopper, who into his final days still shopped for a family of Ten. No one was allowed to leave his home without a care package. He also loved travelling up North with his family and best friends to the Poisson Cottage’s, to relax and supervise from his Adirondack chair. In his final years, he found solace in family meals, watching TV, and sleeping in his lazy boy. This sweet, humble man will be forever remembered and deeply missed by his family, nieces, nephews, many grandchildren, friends, and neighbours.

The Roy family are everlastingly grateful for the compassionate care shown by many health care professionals and others. Their tender support ensured that our father, Andy, could live his final days at home, by the bay window, while surrounded by family. From the bottom of our hearts, many thank you's go out to our spouses for holding hands and stepping in to help in any way. Also extending our thanks to Dr. John Day, Erie/St. Clair Home & Community Care; the many outstanding PSW's from St. Elizabeth, VON Services: our EShift care worker "Linda", the Hospice Team, the Demarse Family for the hospital bed which allowed Andy to rest in comfort in his own home, Paramed, WRH Met Campus Emergency Staff, Windsor Chapel: Banwell, our friends and neighbours.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Andy’s memory may be made to The Tecumseh Historical Museum. Contact and donation information can be found on their Facebook page. Link Here
