Obituary of Russell Louis McDonald

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of Russell's passing. His soul peacefully left the earth on November 28th quietly in his sleep. As his family navigates this profound loss, they invite you to share pictures and memories that capture the essence of who Russell was. If Russell left an unforgettable mark on your life, shared a laugh, or a moment of joy, please share it in the comments below.

He is survived by his mother Patricia Paré (Joe Leightizer), father Robert McDonald (Pauline Brent), sister Odessa (Craig Lussier), and was a proud Uncle to Liv and Tessa. He was loved and will be remembered by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

As a young boy Russell grew up at the Turtle Club and at the old LaSalle Centennial Arena. He was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Red Wings, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He kept his competitive edge over the years with his love for bowling, archery and golf. He enjoyed making a bet at Windsor Raceway with his dad and his friends. He loved gaming and a good old-fashioned political debate. Known for his wealth of knowledge on seemingly everything, Russell had a unique way of brightening every conversation. If you ever wondered about something seemingly useless, you knew you could count on Russell to know about it.

A proud graduate of Sandwich Secondary School, Russell had a love for fast cars and enjoyed simple things like a quiet crib game with his Grandmother. Fall fishing trips on the Maitland River created cherished memories for his father and friends along with countless other family vacations over the years to places like Hawaii, Las Vegas, The Grand Canyon, and Disneyland.

As a seasoned tractor-trailer driver and Sheridan College graduate with a Private Investigator license, Russell approached life on his terms.

Always humble, kind, and generous, Russell wouldn’t end a conversation without saying "I love you." He never asked for anything but was always the first to offer help when needed. It was his big heart that made him so special, and he will be loved and missed by many.

Though his time with us wasn't nearly long enough, Russell's bright smile and infectious laugh will forever be remembered. May his genuine spirit continue to live on in our hearts; until we meet again.
