Obituary of Neil Curtis Wilcox

WILCOX, Neil Curtis Born July 16, 1935 in North Ridge, Ontario. Passed away on October 1, 2008 surrounded by his family at the age of 73 years. Dear husband of 47 years to Marilyn (Edwards) and adored father to Karen and John Trainer and Sue and Dave Platt. Beloved son of Edison (Ted) and late Thelma Wilcox (2005). Son-in-law of the late Fred (1974) and Violet (1979) Edwards. Neil was a proud grandfather to John, Reagan, Hannah, Nicole and Faith Trainer, Owen and Adam Platt. Neil leaves behind all of his "favourite" brothers, Ross and Betty, Wayne and Sharon, Paul and Janice, Lyle and Sue, and the late Dale (2001) and Andrea (1986), along with his sister-in-law Pat and Larry Senick. Special friend to Don and Joan Taylor, Bud and Dorothy Kempisty, Dolly Smith, Olga and Des Ryan, John Soulliere, Bob Smallhorn and Jim and Betty Kelso and all their families. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Neil retired in 2000 from Cope and Gurr Machinery after more than 40 years. He was a longtime member of the Goodfellows and St. Barnabas' BAC. He was a volunteer driver for the Lion's Manor. A heartfelt thanks for the impeccable care Neil received since January while at Windsor Regional at both the Met and Windsor Western Campus. Special mention to Doctors T. Yousef and M. McCaffery and S. Chao for their dedication. Thank you also to Doctors Linda Tietze and Rob Woodall for your care and advice, and most importantly your friendship and support. Neil's nursing care was superb and professional. To "his women" on 8 North and his nurses in ICU, words cannot describe how much we appreciate you all; especially Anna for your sweet care and for visiting in his final hours, Alex for always recognizing and supporting Neil's incredible spirit, and Lindsey for always being at Neil's side. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Sunday, October 5, 2008 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Relative and friends will be received for visitation on Monday, October 6, 2008 at St. Barnabas' Anglican Church (2115 Chilver Rd.) from 10:00 a.m. until Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow.
